The Pecan Orchard

The nut farm

We lovingly referred to this property as “The Nut Farm” when we were in negotiations to purchase it. The farm came with 95 pecan trees covering about 4 acres. We are working on getting the trees to be more productive. In 2020, Lindsay attended The Pecan Orchard Management Short Course at Texas A&M to learn about growing and managing a pecan orchard. We figured out our two types of trees produce Native and Stuart Pecans. We also learned that pecan trees require much more water than we can offer so they are more decorative than productive. C'est la vie.
